Biography

Jonathan joined Cullen Collimore Shirley after 15 years practicing as a trial lawyer and business counselor at a large general practice law firm. Jonathan represents clients across a spectrum of industries and of every size — from Fortune 1,000 companies to start-ups to individuals. Jonathan has chaired and co-chaired jury trials and bench trials and secured victories for clients as plaintiffs and defendants in a range of complex and “bet the company” matters. He is recognized by Best Lawyers® for 2023 in the categories of commercial litigation and litigation - intellectual property. Representative matters include:

  • In collaboration with another partner, securing an $1.8 million judgment for a Fortune 500 company in a complex warranty dispute involving the sale of radiation hardened microprocessors;

  • Obtaining a defense verdict for a telecommunications company accused of violating consumer protection statutes;

  • Defending manufacturer from claims of PFAS contamination in putative class-action;

  • Protecting an employer from unfair competition by securing a preliminary injunction to enforce employee covenants not to compete and not to disclose confidential information;

  • Defeating royalty claims of $1 million and charges of trade secret misappropriation leveled against a former franchisee of a national franchise operator.

  • Securing a favorable settlement in a trademark infringement action involving clothing designs.

Jonathan also regularly appears in appellate courts, from the New Hampshire Supreme Court to the United States Circuit Court of Appeals for the First Circuit.

In addition to his litigation practice, Jonathan advises his business clients on issues of employee mobility and employee relations; the protection of trade secrets, trademarks, and copyrights; cloud-based computing service contracts; and data security and reporting.

Jonathan earned his juris doctorate degree, cum laude, from Boston College Law School. He earned a bachelor of arts degree in history from Vassar College.
