A good deal of work is spent representing police departments and individual officers against allegations of false arrest, malicious prosecution, and excessive force. Often turning on issues of probable cause, we strive to obtain summary judgment to dispose of meritless claims. Where issues of material fact preclude summary judgment, we have successfully defended police officers at trial in both state and federal jury trials. Having worked closely with line officers and supervisors, we ensure judges and jurors understand the difficult decisions officers are often forced to make in the field.
