Firm secures win for officers involved in high profile arrest.

Brian Cullen secured summary judgment in federal court this month for officers involved in a high-profile (and widely televised) arrest. The plaintiff claimed his civil rights were violated when the officers failed to intervene to prevent alleged excessive force used during Plaintiff’s arrest. Brian argued that the officers lacked a reasonable opportunity to intervene given the brief nature of the encounter. The Court agreed and granted summary judgment for the officers on Plaintiff’s claim. The decision preserves critical protection for officers who face rapidly unfolding events during an arrest – an area under increased scrutiny since the tragic events in Minneapolis and elsewhere.
